Pet Boarding that Feels Like Home
We love seeing and caring for people’s pets every day, but we also enjoy hosting them as boarding guests! Dogs and cats are both welcome to stay with us in separate, climate-controlled areas where our team will make them feel comfortable and secure. At Animal Hospital of Wilkes, we know that your pet deserves extra special care while you’re away—it’s what we would want for our own pets, too.

Amenities at Our Pet Boarding Facility
To give your pet a comfortable, stable routine while they board, we provide the following:
(if your pet does not require a special prescription diet)
Drop-Off and Pick-Up Hours
You can come in any time during our regular office hours, Monday through Saturday, to either drop off or pick up your pet.
Health Requirements for Boarding
Your pet needs to be up-to-date on their vaccinations at least 10 days prior to their boarding date. If your pet is not a patient at Animal Hospital of Wilkes, please bring written proof that they are up-to-date. Please contact us if you have any questions or need to schedule your pet’s vaccinations before they board.
Because pets must have completed their distemper booster series and had their first rabies shot, we cannot allow young puppies and kittens to board.
Dog Vaccines
- DHPP (distemper/hepatitis/parainfluenza/parvo)
- Rabies
- Bordetella
- Leptospirosis
Cat Vaccines
- RCP (feline distemper)
- Rabies
- Leukemia (recommended for kittens and at-risk cats)
We recommend keeping toys, bedding, and other personal items (aside from medications and prescription diets) at home. This is to ensure that no items get lost or damaged during your pet’s stay.
Food and Medications
When you pack up your pet’s food and (if needed) medications, make sure the food is tightly sealed and medications come in their original containers. Label all containers with your pet’s name and yours, and include any additional instructions if needed.
